The Battle of the Canals - October 1944

In October 1944, two German Divisions launched a surprise counter-offensive against the thinly-held line of the U.S. 7th Armored Division at Meijel, The Netherlands. This is the story of that now forgotten offensive, which has since been dubbed 'The Little Ardennes'.

Their attack was halted by British reinforcements. The British penetrated Liesel again on October 31. The Maas bridges at Venlo and Roermond were repeatedly bombed.
